Blogging For Business

We receive emails recommending webinars on a daily basis. This terrific presentation by Dave Taylor on blogging at the affiliate summit caught my attention this week.

I usually listen while I am rowing (indoor) in the mornings but Dave’s session literally made me stand up and take notes.

When was the last time YOU reviewed Google’s Webmaster Guidelines?

In yesterday’s Internet Marketing Blog post by Barry entitled Which Engine Should You Optimize For (about the level of spending of advertisers on the big 3 search engines) we see yet another example of Google’s number one ranking.

Indeed, estimates declare that 50% to 80% of all searches on Search Engines are made on Google.

Barry also pointed out yesterday “All the more reason, if you want to be a player in the seosphere, you have to produce Google results.”

scolding.jpg   Well if Google is so important when was the last time YOU reviewed Google’s Webmaster Guidelines? They have at least 1/2 the market!

If you haven’t done so already read and follow the guidelines. If you have read them before, do so again, and do so periodically from now on as they do add to and update their info regularly.

Here’s the link http://www.google.com/webmasters/guidelines.html

Have a great weekend!

Which Search Engine Should You Optimize For?

kingscrown.jpg  A  Bizreport.com article indicates that Google is expected to report U.S. advertising revenues of $4 billion in 2006; the entire U.S. online ad spend is expected to be $16 billion. For Google, this is a 65% jump from the numbers reported in 2005 and marks a continued pull away from Yahoo, their closest competitor.

“These growth numbers establish Google as the unrivaled king of online advertising universe, leaving Yahoo, with its greater advertising diversity and years of media experience, struggling in second place,” David Hallerman, eMarketer senior analyst (via MarketWatch) said.

All the more reason, if you want to be a player in the seosphere, you have to produce Google results.

If It Looks Too Good To Be True…..

Every day, I get an email from a site owner asking me about the latest seo shortcut.  “Top Google Rankings in the blink of an eye for only $10.00” or, “We’ll add you to 5,000 directories overnight!”

It reminds me of all the weight loss programs you see on TV  infomercials. There are literally thousands of ways to lose 20 pounds in an instant! They make it look so easy. Yet the reality is that you have to work at it.

SEO is no different. The truth is you have to work at seo to make it work for you. And if you are offered a shortcut that  looks to good to be true……it probably is.
